Candidate for Georgia House of Representatives
District 49
Democrat
Alpharetta. Milton. Roswell
Dear Fellow Residents, Friends, and Family -
As a 25 year resident of Alpharetta, Georgia and North Fulton County, I have seen a lot of change. The growth and progress this area has seen has been exciting. My husband and I are beyond happy that we made the decision to become part of this community so many years ago. Our two children were born and raised here, educated in the public school system, and now are successfully navigating the new post-college world (our son) and the last months of college (our daughter).
I have always served the communities of which I have been a part. My professional career started in banking after graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Business, Marketing and Economics. I immediately became involved in civic engagement as a volunteer. Before long, I was called to nonprofit work and now have my own event planning and fundraising business, raising essential funds for nonprofits all over the metropolitan Atlanta area and beyond.
I have become increasingly involved in the political world, starting with Moms Demand Action for Common Sense Gun Laws, which involves working with legislators at the Georgia Capitol. I have also campaigned for progressive candidates over the years. This participation and education has led me to act on what I have always been taught to believe - when you see a problem that you can fix, you must do so. Georgia’s average number of annual deaths from gun violence is the 5th highest of any state in this country. Georgia’s healthcare system is not meeting the needs of its growing and changing population with 1.4 million Georgians uninsured. Our access to mental health services is near the bottom as compared to other states. Quality public education is essential, and Georgia is struggling to recruit and retain quality teachers. These are just a few issues that I will address and work to change as the next Georgia House Representative, serving the 49th District of Georgia. The area has changed. Our representation needs to reflect that change.
Sincerely
Early Voting Dates:
October 17th - November 4th
Peggy on the Issues
Economy & Small Business
Small businesses are the engines that drive our economy. Georgians have always led the way in taking risks, creating jobs, and building a stronger Georgia. I’ll work to remove barriers in District 49 that stand in the way of small businesses and provide targeted support to promote entrepreneurship — helping more small businesses to get off the ground, expand, and hire new workers...
Quality Education
Georgians take pride in our schools. Families move here to benefit from the quality education that their children will receive. We can’t let Georgia schools fall behind.
But, both here and across the state of Georgia, the quality of our education is at risk. We rely on our teachers, more than we rely on most anyone else...
Healthcare
I have spent much of my life working with childhood cancer nonprofits, and have seen far too many parents go broke and even declare bankruptcy simply because they did whatever they could to try to save their child’s life...
